The intangible benefits of a Quality Management System

In recent years, we have heard in various forums about the benefits that a Quality Management System (QMS) brings to an organization. GDI Grupo Diamante Internacional is a relatively young organization; however, our growth has been exponential in recent years, and a fundamental part of this sustained success is largely due to the implementation of this system. It is generally mentioned that the benefits that a QMS brings to organizations are increased customer satisfaction, an improvement in the organization's processes, a reduction in internal or external quality costs, entry into new markets, and differentiation from the competition. All these benefits have been tangible for the organization, as we have been able to measure their impact over time and without a doubt, they are of great value to any company. However, have you ever wondered what the intangible benefits of a QMS are that a QMS brings to the organization internally? At GDI we have found that one of the greatest benefits is the sense of belonging that employees feel towards the processes where they interact. By implementing a QMS, our procedures or technical guides are developed in conjunction with our collaborators with the support of their leaders, thus documenting all the know-how and enabling continuous improvements. In addition, another intangible benefit is the Motivation and Collaboration that exists between the different work teams. This is reflected in the fulfillment or improvement of the different indicators that exist in the organization as the QMS has become established in the company. The sum of all these efforts is reflected in the achievement of our Quality Objectives annually. The last intangible benefit that the organization has detected is the Innovation and Creativity with which employees find the solution to the daily problems they face within their operation. This has allowed for improved job performance in all operational areas. Furthermore, to ensure that the innovation generated is adopted in our QMS and that we remain at the forefront of the market, we align everything to the requirements of the International Standard ISO 9001:2015 that governs our organization. The result of all this effort and teamwork is that we achieved the Recertification of our QMS in September 2020. At GDI we are always committed to our clients and other stakeholders, so many of our efforts are focused on continuous improvement. Constant innovation in our services and products makes us the best Business Partners for our clients and keeps us at the forefront of the market. Our Quality Management System supports us in our mission to offer image and security consulting services to our clients. We look forward to starting your project together!  Roberto Martínez Calderón – Coordinator of Comprehensive Management

GDI, one of the Best Mexican Companies

For the past 10 years, Deloitte, Citibanamex, and Tecnológico de Monterrey have promoted the Best Mexican Companies initiative, or MEM. MEM seeks to recognize and support medium-sized private companies in our country that stand out for their high level of performance in business management. Furthermore, Best Mexican Companies is part of the global “Best Managed Companies” program, which aims to recognize the operational excellence of private companies worldwide. Since our inception, at GDI we have been convinced that companies are one of the most important drivers of change in our society and our country. In Mexico, there are more than 5 million companies distributed throughout all the states of the Republic; of these, more than 4 million are small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), contributing 52% of the GDP and employing nearly 30 million people. Today, we are very proud to share that for the third consecutive year, GDI Grupo Diamante Internacional has received the Best Mexican Companies distinction. As with every edition in which we have participated, MEM was a collaborative effort across all our departments and involved a thorough analysis of our entire business model. From preparing all the necessary documentation to receiving feedback from our coaches at Deloitte, Citibanamex, and Tecnológico de Monterrey, MEM helped us reaffirm our strengths, mitigate existing threats, and develop future plans to capitalize on all the opportunities available to us. This recognition keeps us excited about the challenges ahead. In the coming years, we will continue expanding our reach and improving every day to continue offering the best corporate image and security consulting services through uniforms and workwear to the most important companies in Mexico and Latin America. Finally, in a year as challenging as 2020 and given the uncertain economic and political landscape we are experiencing, this distinction reaffirms the excellent work we have done in recent years. Being recognized as one of the Best Mexican Companies of 2020 is the result of the tremendous work and outstanding effort of each of our employees, who every day contribute their part to provide a better tomorrow for their families and build a better Mexico together. To each member of the GDI family, to our people in Mexico City and Tehuacán, congratulations on this distinction! Without you, the journey we have undertaken would not have been possible. What is the ESR distinction?

The ESR Distinction is an award granted annually in Mexico by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi) and AliaRSE (Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility). It accredits companies before employees, investors, clients, authorities, and society in general for voluntarily and publicly committing to socially responsible management as part of their culture and business strategy. While the ESR Distinction is not the only tool for recognizing corporate social responsibility strategies in Mexico, it enjoys the greatest recognition at the business, governmental, and academic levels. The distinction is not a CSR certification because it is not an audit process. It is a self-assessment process covering various areas of the company. All legally established companies operating in Mexico, regardless of size or sector, can participate in obtaining the distinction. Benefits: Today, the benefits of being a socially responsible company are numerous. The ESR Distinction is not a one-time commitment; it must be renewed annually to maintain a current culture of corporate responsibility. How to obtain the ESR Distinction? These 10 years attest to our commitment, during which time we have shown our dedication not only internally to our employees but also externally to our clients, suppliers, and, most importantly, the environment. We have fulfilled this commitment and will continue to do so for many more years. It is a commitment, something that distinguishes us, and something we value every day.

How to achieve Business Sustainability

Corporate sustainability encompasses the efforts a company makes to sustain its economic activity, considering social and environmental factors, and ensuring responsible resource management. What are the five principles that any company aspiring to achieve business sustainability must adhere to? How can corporate sustainability be achieved? In this regard, organizational culture plays a key role in establishing internal practices for the efficient use of resources, considering all the aforementioned variables. The company must take into account the value chain (inputs, processes, and outputs), and it must also consider the constant evaluation of actions that involve resource expenditures in order to improve and manage them better, thereby maximizing efficiency and, consequently, the company's profitability. Another important aspect concerns how corporate sustainability is communicated and how consumers and clients validate it. When companies successfully communicate their actions toward achieving greater sustainability, consumers can question, accept, and/or support them. In short, developing a sustainable business is no easy task. It requires willpower, talent in business management, and a broad and deep understanding of the environment, allowing us to identify the elements that must be carefully considered during the production process. At GDI, we understand that this is hard work, but little by little we have undertaken the task of implementing the necessary measures to become sustainable, starting internally with our employees in their daily work. We are committed to having a company that is environmentally friendly and responsible towards everything around it. We are the future, and therefore we must comply with everything that safeguards the well-being of the company and the ecosystem.

An idea that could revolutionize businesses

Over time, companies have embraced the idea that resources should not be used faster than they are replenished and that waste generation should not be excessive. Sustainable innovation is driven by concern for resources and the environment. Sustainable innovation changes our perspective on how we use the Earth's natural resources. With climate change, sustainable innovation becomes, in itself, a reason to support it. Reasons to support sustainable innovation: The Earth demands a change in our consumption and production habits. Sustainable innovation faces the challenge of changing the status quo and creating entirely new business models. Innovation requires collaboration, especially when it comes to sustainable innovation. Meeting standards and finding new ideas will require multidisciplinary teams. Best of all, when developing a sustainable solution, people will seek to unite because sustainability creates a noble and necessary purpose for the world. Consumers are increasingly demanding that companies develop their products and services sustainably. The Business of the Future: A company or venture can benefit in many ways, including: Phases to Achieving Innovation. The first step to becoming a sustainable entrepreneur is complying with your country's and industry-specific environmental regulations. Following these regulations will require changes. Environmental issues are becoming part of a global and business challenge. Addressing these issues will bring multiple benefits to your business. Consumers prefer eco-friendly products and services, and you can capitalize on this trend by being among the first to develop or redesign your product. Creating a new business model goes beyond simply revising your value proposition. An ingenious business model will provide new ways to capture revenue and deliver related services. At GDI, we have explored ways to redesign our products to be more environmentally friendly and incorporate recycled materials. We have also strived to comply with legal regulations to become a sustainable company, implementing various strategies to improve and protect the environment. We want to innovate to improve our service and serve as an example for other companies.

Strategic decisions adopted for a commitment to ecology

Environmental management refers to a company's policies and actions aimed at achieving maximum environmental protection in its activities and surrounding environment. It is based on three main pillars: Each company must analyze and identify the impact of its activities on the environment in order to design the tools for each of these pillars. Furthermore, these are intersected by government regulations and policies, which must be followed. CHARACTERISTICS OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT The implementation of an Environmental Management System is a process that begins with the company's strategic decision to commit to environmental responsibility. This process involves several stages and is characterized by a series of tools that enable the achievement of its objectives. Among the characteristics of environmental management, the following can be mentioned: ADVANTAGES AND CHALLENGES Advantages of Environmental Management Proper environmental management, both in society in general and through corporate social responsibility initiatives, has multiple benefits, such as: Just as there are advantages, there are also challenges to implementing this type of management, such as: Each company, by analyzing its activity, can define its own characteristics of environmental management and how to carry it out. Any type of implementation must have a good structure and support from the entire company. At GDI, we are aware of the impact of our activities on the environment. For this reason, we have implemented measures to correct processes that could harm the environment, for example, saving energy with LED lights, using a cutter that minimizes fabric scrap waste, and partnering with suppliers who use sustainable fabrics for garment production. We have implemented the sale of cloth face masks to reduce the use of disposable face masks, which can harm the environment; we also sell sustainable garments, which are made with sustainable fabrics or contain a percentage of PET. At GDI we care about the environment, making our processes more environmentally friendly. We are a company that looks out for the future and seeks growth without harming resources.
